Two Ways to Make Someone Feel Worthless

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Two Ways to Make Someone Feel Worthless."

Actions may be bad, but most people aren't inherently bad, and no one deserves to be verbally, emotionally, or physically abused or treated by society with abject indifference. This is especially the case when it comes to helpless children, no one—whether parents, teachers, bullies, etc.—should be abusive to them. Children need safe, nurturing, and loving people and the environment around them that enable them to learn and grow to be the best people that they can be without being put down for mistakes they make, limitations they may have, or just being flawed human beings as we all are. Similarly, adults and workers should not be mistreated just because they are on your dime and can be. They have an inherent right to equality and to be treated with respect and dignity. There are no dumb questions or stupid mistakes when a person is trying their best.

No Bathroom Breaks

This is an interesting sign to put on the bathroom door.

Please do not use when meeting is in progress

Hmmm, no bathroom breaks allowed.

Sure hope that meeting is over soon.

In the meantime, got to hold on tight!  ;-)

Leadership With Heart

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Leadership With Heart."

“Leadership with Heart“—you’ll see this as my byline for my Times of Israel blog, and which I also use daily under my signature line in my professional emails. To me, it represents my goal of becoming a leader and doing it with a “lev tahor” (pure heart), represented as much as possible to others through good thoughts, words, and deeds.

In terms of impact, I was pleasantly surprised recently when at least three different people came up to me after I did or said something, and they responded with something like, “Oh, I get it. That’s what ‘Leadership with Heart’ means in your tagline.” I can’t tell you how happy that made me to hear that. I wasn’t just saying it, but acting it, and others noticed it positively.

@Maryland Iron Festival (Catoctin Furnace)

Fascinating to listen to stories from this former miner at the Maryland Iron Festival, near Cunningham Falls State Park.

Learned about the incredibly tough and dangerous working conditions in the mines.

He said everyone he knew who worked in the mines is already dead.

Working hundreds of feet underground, in the pitch black and dust, in cramped spaces of only 30" high, and with dangerous mining tools and explosives all for $75 per day.

This song is about the miners protesting for better wages and safer working conditions.

And if not, no more "fire in the hole!"  ;-)

Fashion Hot and Cold

Fashion in Washington, D.C. in January winter low temperatures.

Perhaps trying for "hot" (-like) fashion on a cold day.

I don't think it would go over all that well in an office-setting, especially in this often stodgy town. ;-)

This little guy looks like he's right out of the Metaverse.

Follow me and let's hang out, play video games, have a meeting, or do a little shopping.

It's a world within our world and nothing is beyond your imagination!  ;-)

Missing My Dear Mom

I had the Yartzeit (memorial anniversary) for my mom this last week.

Can't believe it's been 7 years already!

Came across this picture where I'm sneaking up behind her at the veggie restaurant.

My mom was always so full of life!

And while she went regularly to work, she also made sure to took care of us and the home.

Whatever time I found myself coming home from school or work, there was a wonderful home-cooked meal waiting for me, and the salad always came first!

After I met my wife, Dossy, my mom and dad welcomed her to the family with open arms and hearts, and then together with our own children (their grandchildren), we were one (extended) family.

Mom, hope you and Dad are doing well and G-d bless you both in Heaven!  ;-)
