Square Watermelons
A square watermelon.
Why do you need a square watermelon?
It was created to make transportation easier and to fit on the tight shelves of small stores in Japan.
How do you make a round/oval watermelon square?
Why of course, you put a box around it while it's still small and on the vine.
Ah, I think they broke the mold on this innovative idea. LOL
The problem is that that because they are harvested before they are ripe, they are inedible.
So the Japanese use them for decorations, and they can last about a year.
They are so unique, they cost roughly $100 for one.
Why be square, when you can be round? ;-)

How Much Can You Love Something?
Notice that the title of this blog is not how much can you love G-d or someone...
Those can be virtually infinite.
I remember my dad was so devoted to G-d and his family.
He used to say:
"I would go through fire for my family [and of course G-d]."
And we all knew from his daily actions that he meant it!
But how about for things--how much do some people love their things?
I read today in the Wall Street Journal how David Rockefeller's estate of paintings, porcelain, and silver was slated to sell for $700 million!
That's a lot of prized possessions of [lovely] material things!
But even things that aren't so pricey are incredibly beloved to many people.
In these photos, someone who must really love bowling has adorned their home and property with dozens of bowling bowls.
Literally on the fence and in big piles as decoration in the yard all around the home.
True, it's colorful, novel, and sort of interesting, but really you love bowling that much!
Yes, we are want to be comfortable with our special things especially when they provide good memories and sentimental feelings.
But whether a bowling bowl house or a Rockefeller estate, it's only truly worth something if there is G-d and loving people in it with you. ;-)

Wine Bottle Extraordinaire
Apparently, a very talented lady in there makes these special bottles.
Unfortunately with the lighting, this picture does not near do them justice for how exquisite they looked.
They were in different colors of lacing, with beautiful beads, hamsas, and other decorations, as well as pictures of our honored sages, and their names in hebrew over the photos.
I asked facetiously one lady who was taking home a bottle whether she was going to drink it all that evening, and she pulled the bottle close to her and leaning in to me said, "This is going in my display case!"
And that truly is where these belong...they are amazing.
The wonderful lady that painstakingly makes these gave how many of them charitably so they could be auctioned for benefit of the synagogue.
Aside from a wonderful soul, this person is very talented and should seriously start a business with these because they are awesome! ;-)

What A Split!
Aside from the body in the trunk, this guy or gal is either a yoga guru, they weigh like 1,000 pounds and are as big as a Subaru Outback, or they have been split in half (and this is a crime scene)!
It reminds me of, as a kid, reading the Guinness Book of World Records about the fattest man, Robert Earl Hughes, that was buried in a coffin the size of a piano case, although at the time, I thought he was actually buried in a piano case.
Either way, this is a ghoulish picture, indeed. ;-)
