David Slays Goliath
May 19, 2019
The Goliath Arab Propaganda Machine
It has been 71 years since the founding of the modern State of Israel, and while Israel is thank G-d strong militarily, it continues to be seriously threatened by a relentless Arab propaganda war, which they are winning. This War of Words manifests itself on college campuses, protests and rallies against Israel, “progressive politics,” BDS, and the endless stream of anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations.
Please G-d, He will help us not only militarily to defeat the enemies of Israel, but also to prevail in the battle for truth and justice, identity and history, and ultimately for the Promised Land of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. ;-)

Israel vs. The Enemies of G-d
This is such a fantastic video.
The amazing story of David vs. Goliath.
Where faith in G-d overcomes the enemies of G-d.
Today, Israel is once again fulfilling the prophecy.
We are living in miraculous times.
Where the final redemption is upon us.
All will recognize G-d Almighty.
Good will prevail over evil.
And peace will reign on Earth. ;-)

Obsolesce Of Nuclear Weapons
This is one incredible video.
It shows the killing power of micro killer drones.
With a host of cameras and other sensors including facial recognition and GPS, plus a small amount of explosives, these drones can target individuals or critical infrastructure and take them out!
The drones can work alone or in swarms to get into and kill or destroy anything.
No VIP (very important person) or CIP (critical infrastructure protected) is safe.
We can wipe out entire cities or the nuclear infrastructure of our enemies.
Despite the warning about artificial intelligence at the end of this video, rest assured these killer microdrones are coming.
Big is the new small, and small is the new big.
In fact, big things come in small packages--exactly!
Iran and North Korea are chasing obsolete technology to harm the U.S. and Israel, and within a short time, they will see the error of their malevolent ways
G-d foretells us all in the Bible and like David and Goliath--a slingshot to the forehead and the fight with the evil is over. ;-)
(Thank you to Itzchak for sharing this video with me).

Nothing Personal
It's when they harshly criticize, pick on, or even bully their hard working and good people.
What do they say when they do it:
"It's nothing personal."
Ha, that's sort of funny, but really it's sad.
I asked an executive colleague about this and this is what they profoundly said:
"It's my favorite line when the boss says it's nothing personal. Of course it's personal. Is there anyone else in the room!"
When people misuse/abuse their power to hurt others whether at work or even in other situations like with small children or anyone else in a subordinate position:
- That's not business.
- That's not professional.
- That's not being a good human being.
People are not punching bags because someone else is having a bad day.
We need to rise above the occasion and be better than that.
It's better to be humane, compassionate, and emotionally intelligent.
And not just because someday, we are all in that position where someone bigger is facing off against us.
But rather we need to behave kindly to others, because they too are G-d's children and our brothers and sisters, and it is the absolutely the right way to behave--whether it's business or personal. ;-)

G-d Protects Us - Happy 2018!
All these beautiful hamsas!
Hamsas are traditional symbols of G-d's protection and to ward off the evil.
These were some very beautiful ones.
Some say that it is symbolic of the hand of Miriam, Moses' sister, raised in a protective stance over the people.
Five fingers are like the five books of the Torah and a reminder to use all five of our senses in worshipping and praising G-d.
Talking to someone yesterday about surviving in the face of some very difficult challenges, she said to me:
"Remember, just because the adversary is powerful, you are the David to the Goliath!"
With G-d's help and blessings, even a little David can slay the giant evil Goliath.
For the New Year of 2018 and forward, G-d should bless us and protect us, shine his face upon us and be gracious unto us, lift up his countenance upon us, and give us peace!
The L-rd is the ultimate strength and justice and in front of Him no evil will stand.
Our faith may be tested, but from it, we will come out smarter, stronger, and better souls, as G-d teaches us to look always to the Heavens where all good emanates. ;-)

Fighting Someone Who Doesn't Care
This comes to the point of the whole matter, which is how do you fight an adversary that just doesn't give a [you know what]?
If one side is arguing what's right based on international laws, mores, and the ethics of human rights and freedom, how does that stack up with an adversary that disseminates misinformation [oh, are those our troops on the ground?] and thumbs their nose at the world to get what they want?
Maybe fighting fair is wonderful from a legal standpoint, but it sure looks challenging on the ground.
Putin is daring anyone to do anything...heck, he's got thermonuclear ICBMs and a veto at the U.N. Security Council.
BTW, if a security council member is the one doing something wrong, why in those matters, do they still get a veto???
Anyway, this is a very dangerous game of cat and mouse, and if everyone fought this way, the doomsday clock would be ticking very close to midnight, indeed.
Many times in history, a Goliath has swung a big ugly sword, but even a David--and we are not a David, but a world superpower--came to the fight with a sligshot and still won.
Notice though, David still came to the fight!
We can win by doing the right thing, but we cannot run away, because as Hitler showed us--appeasement does not work!
Give a finger and next goes the hand, arm, and torso.
Now already are reports that Putin is threatening to derail the P5+1 negotiations with Iran as well.
Yesterday, I read in Businessweek about overspending, that it's better to get a haircut now, than have a beheading later.
Perhaps, this applies to national security matters as well?
We can't be the policeman/woman of the world, but Snowden is snug in "Mother Russia" and now so is Crimea.

Nimbleness, Ingenuity and The Total CIO
From a religious perspective, of course, David is victorious over this incredible enemy, by the hand of G-d; it is a miracle!
Metaphorically, David slays the Giant with a rock and sling shot overcoming the daunting Goliath and his foreboding weapons (sword, spear, shield, and armor); it is David’s nimbleness and ingenuity that overcome the hulking and conventional giant, Goliath.
You have to love this story.
Good wins over evil. The smaller defeat the larger. The underdog overcomes the “sure thing.”
The modern day, Hollywood version of this is Rocky whose sheer determination and laser focus prevails against superior adversaries. How many times does the smaller Rocky defeat the larger, better trained, more muscular opponents? Remember—Apollo Creed (taller, trimmer, faster), Hulk Hogan (the giant who literally picks Rocky up over his head), Clubber Lang (the awesome Mr. T), Ivan Drago (the steroidal, methodically-trained Soviet), and so on.
David versus Goliath, Rocky versus Ivan Drago…
While these are amazing and inspiring stories of success, these aren’t unique stories or themes in history. Why?
As the old saying goes, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” Small, nimble, and innovative can and will overcome large, lumbering giants. This can be in the ring (like Rocky), on the battlefield (like David and Goliath), and in marketplace competition (like challenger brands such as Apple, Google, Honda…).
Recently, the Wall Street Journal has an article entitled “Honda’s Flexible Plants Provide Edge.” (23 September 2008)
“One recent morning, the Hondo Motor Co. plant here churned out 120 Civic compacts. Then the production line came to a halt and workers in white uniforms swept in to install new hand-like parts on the giant gray robots that weld steel into the car’s frames. About five minutes later, the line roared back to life, and the robots began zapping together a longer, taller vehicle, the CR-V cross-over. In the automotive world, this is considered quite a feat.”
Honda’s plants are the most nimble in the industry.
In the first 2/3 of the year, while sales are down 24% at Chrysler, 18% at CM, 15% at Ford, and even 7.8% at Toyota, Honda is up 1.7%!
Like with Honda’s more efficient production process—“to shuffle production among different plants as well as make different models in one plant--flexibility and innovation are the rocks and slingshot of the modern day David. Watch out Goliaths!
The great lesson here for large, successful organizations is that no matter how much bigger and better you are than the competition, you can never rest on your laurels.
Time can change everything.
The smaller, seemingly disadvantaged enterprise is eyeing those in the #1 spot and taking it as their personal challenge to unseat them. They are clawing their way up and will use their smaller size to outmaneuver, and their ability to innovate to leap ahead of the competition.
The Total CIO (like King David and Rocky) find a strategic advantage to enable them to overcome stronger and/or larger competitors. The Total CIO leverages technology/business process improvement as tools of innovation to change the game completely.

Small Is In and Enterprise Architecture
Remember the saying, “good things come in small packages?” In enterprise architecture big is out and small is in. This applies not only to the obvious consumer electronics market, where PDAs, phones, chips, and everything electronic seems to be getting smaller and sleeker, but also to the broader computing market (such as the transition from mainframe to distributed computing) and even to the storage device market.
The Wall Street Journal, 10 January 2008, reports that Mr. Moshe Yanai “was responsible for one of
How did Mr. Yanai do this?
He did this by going small. “One point of the architecture is simplicity of management of data…with his architecture, you just add more pieces.”
In creating Symmetrix disk drives, Mr. Yanai developed storage drives that were “cheaper, faster, and more reliable than
The small disk drives of
Mr. Yanai, a one time Israeli tank commander, is a User-centric enterprise architect. He recognized the needs of his users for smaller, cheaper, and faster devices and he delivered on this. Moreover, Mr. Yanai put the customer first not only in terms of product design and development, but also in terms of customer service. “Mr. Yanai was known as an expert engineer who also could talk to customers and solve their problems. Mr. Yanai put telephones in each storage device and programmed them to ‘phone home’ when it sensed a part was in danger of failing.”
While Mr. Yanai was removed from his top engineering role at
From a User-centric EA perspective, the small and agile often wins out over the large and stodgy. It is a lesson thousands of years old, like the biblical tale of David vs. Goliath, when little David defeats the monstrous Goliath. Small is nimble and big is cumbersome. This is the same thing the
