Floor Full of Flour

That's enough flour for at least a few cakes!  ;-)

Let Them Eat Cake

Do we see and hear when people are hurting?

Do we pay attention or look away?

Do we even care?

Do we do anything about it?

As queen Marie-Antoinette said when told that her people were starving and had no bread, what did she say?

Let them eat cake!

Pray that we are better than that.  ;-)

Beyond Burger Good!

So my terrific, son-in-law Itzchak surprised us with some delicious Beyond Burgers before Shabbat.

They are meatless burgers, and supposed to be pretty healthy, but they taste good too.

Let's just say these were very delicious and we gobbled them down.

Cheesy with tomato, onion, bun, and all.

As my father would say, "It tastes like more!" ;-)

Shabbat Shalom!

Love this picture that my daughter took in Israel of the Challahs for Shabbat.

So fresh and delicious.

Plenty for all.

G-d's blessing for a restful Shabbos.

Thank you for sanctifying us with your mitzvot. ;-)

Shakshuka Feast

Just wanted to thank my daughter and son-in-law for a wonderful Shakshuka dinner last night.

This was topped off with Israeli salad, hot bread, and fresh tihini sauce.

To drink was some rich and foamy Israeli beer, wine, and soft drinks.

A Moroccan feast fit for a king!

It was lovely to see how the kids have grown and are able to frankly outdo their parents (-in-laws) on cooking up a real "delicious" storm. ;-)

Walmart Ain't Got Nothing On The Shuk

The Shuk (Marketplace) in Jerusalem is one of the most exciting and affordable shopping experiences.

Vendor after vendor.

Row after row.

Items stocked high for the taking and eating.

From the most delicious foods to Judaica items.

Fresh-baked breads and gooey chocolatey pastries.

Halvah and baklava!

Fruits and vegetables.

Spices, olives, figs, and dates.

Fish and meat.

Nuts, cheeses, and wines.

Candy, coffee, and slushes.

Hamburgers and falafel.

Virtually endless.

Dizzying in a good way from all the people and products.

Like the old times, but anew.

So much life and you never know what you'll find.

It's exciting in a way that big box Walmart will never be. ;-)

Sharing The Loaf

So I am continuing to learn so much about who is good and who is not so good.

Some people are literally so amazing--giving and caring of others--if they literally have just a single loaf of bread, they will share that willingly with others.

- Their perspective in grounded in a faith that whatever they have, they see it as a gift from G-d and it is only given to them as an opportunity to do good with it.

Then there are others that no matter how much they seem have--and it could be millions of $$$--yet they still can't stand to see others with even half a mouthful of bread.

- In their narcissistic view, what's theirs is exceedingly and deservingly theirs, and what's yours, they believe should also be theirs!

Yet sometimes we misjudge people out of fear or just not knowing enough about them.

We don't know which category they fall into.

Will they give you the shirt off their back or would they rip the shirt off you blind?

These are some of the challenges we face when confronting others in this scary world of souls being perfected and those that are still all too sullied.

But the righteous will inherit the earth and more importantly, the Heavens...because the truth becomes known and is always absolutely clear to The One Above--and the evil ones, they will wither and die.
