Snazzy Men's Shoes

Wow, the red and blue definitely add some snazzy pizzazz to this loafer.
Makes me want to do some walking, indeed. ;-)

Cycle of Life - From Birth to Death
Amazing representation of the cycle of life.
How we start and how we finish.
Everything in the universe (G-d) is one! ;-)

But also (hazy) hot and humid.
Lots of bikers on the trail.
A few squirrels too.
Nice to walk, think, breath, and be. ;-)

Nice Sitting Area
Especially liked the wall hanging combining both painting and light display.
On the opposite side of the room was a glass wall/windows, and the light of the boy and girl holding hands reflected in there as well.
Had a nice relaxing and high-tech type effect on the room.
Just glad the light display didn't move; I think that would be too much and actually sickening.
Anyway, off into the sunset. ;-)

Having Each Other
Incredibly painful.
Difficult getting up from sitting or laying position.
Today, I was trying to walk it off a little.
One of my kids was walking with me taking good care of me.
We ran into a neighbor.
She was nice and asked about what happened.
I told her in brief and said how grateful I was for my daughter taking me for a little walk while I try to heal with G-d's help.
She smiled and said how lucky I was (which I acknowledged).
I asked if she had any kids, thinking that she did.
But she goes to me:
I have no one!
I was a little surprised that she didn't have anyone and how she said it.
I sort of repeated it quizzically.
She goes:
Well I did have a cat but she was 19 years old and I had to put her down.
I felt really bad for her, especially since I know she had an operation this last year and is planned for another one coming up.
I said that we're her neighbors and friends and that she can call on us whenever she needs someone.
This whole thing just made me so upset--no one should be so alone.
I really pray that G-d has mercy on his children and that no one should be alone and that we should all have caring and loving people around us always. ;-)

Hyundai's Great All-Terrain Concept Car
Very impressed with the Hyundai concept "Walking Car."
It can drive, walk, and climb.
I heard that this thing can even climb over walls and jump over gaps!
(Ah, I'm not going to say anything about border security with this--let's just hope the bad guys don't get this).
This is the closest that we've come to Hollywood's Transformers.
This is much more than a vehicle for search and rescue--this is ALL-TERRAIN!
Great job Hyundai--I'd love to test drive this beauty! ;-)

Watch Out For That Gopher Hole
I hurt my back and leg and am going around with a (little) limp.
So one of my colleagues at work sees me struggling-limping down the long hall here, and they say to me this funny thing:
Did you fall in a gopher hole?
I had to take an aback because I never heard that phrase before.
Working outside the city here though, where a lot of people live in the burbs, and we regularly see all sorts of animals around campus, perhaps it wasn't so outlandish a question.
Anyway, as I'm limping, I can't get that funny image out of my head.
I wonder if other people have fallen in a gopher hole and that's why back problems are so common after all. ;-)

Israel Style
What I really liked was seeing it up close and not from the back of a tour bus.
After just a day or so, I started to feel like I was really experiencing life here.
Crossing Menachem Begin Road, we ran into these fashion-conscious ladies.
The colorful clothes and hair, the tall blue shoes, the ripped leggings of the women on the left definitely stood out.
Juxtaposed is the lady on the right in the black dress, short haircut, bag, and glasses.
This pair was a standout!
In a way, I miss the Holy lifestyle of Jerusalem here in Tel Aviv, but at the same time, I like the cosmopolitan and modern life here too.
Anyway, I feel like I am learning a lot and enjoying experiencing culture and religion Israel-style.

Walking It Good
Down the Bethesda Trolley Trail.
Needs a little repaving work.
But it's nice lush green at this time of year.
The exercise is good (and my diet appreciates it).
And of course, spending time together talking and bonding is the road best traveled. ;-)

Footsies at Comfort One
My wife tells me, "Go to Comfort One for new shoes."
I say, "But I don't want to go get nerdy shoes there."
Like in most arguments, my wife wins and in I march, reluctantly, to the store.
First, they take this scan of my feet (something that looks like the picture above) to show me where my foot is getting pressure (and pain).
Okay, well I already know this, but when you see all the red on the picture, I guess it helps to scare you to getting an expensive new pair of orthopedic-like shoes.
But first, they sell me on some arch supports that slides into the shoe...they seem to feel pretty good, and in fact, after walking around in them for a little while, I actually miss them when I finally take them off.
Give me back those darn arch supports, will ya?
Next, we see these amazing Mephisto shoes (with "soft-air technology")...made in Europe...the salesman says, their built like a tank.
My wife says, "Oh, my aunt told me to get those too!" We now have a bona fide endorsement.
I pick up the shoe on display and it look like it is pretty rugged with all the right support for walking around...maybe I got to get over that it looks to me like old people shoes (from Haband).
Hey, what do you want Andy--to feel good on your feet or to look like your 18 again.
Okay, I try them on...with the arch supports inserted...and what do you know, I am walking a heck of a lot better.
Well, what about the price...holy crap, I can get 3 pairs of cool shoes at REI for one of these nerdy pairs.
Oh darn it, I have no choice...I am walking better, especially with the hip surgeries from last year still looming behind me.
I get the shoes, I get the arches...I pay the money--too much money!
I feel nerdy or so nerdy, but maybe I'm going for the healing power, G-d willing, of a good pair of supportive shoes.
My wife was right again, and I hate to admit it, but please don't tell her I said so--it's bad for her ego and mine. ;-)

Walking Off Into The Sunset
When we got home my wife titled it "Walking Off Into The Sunset."
We both cried when we saw it!
So full of meaning...
Two people, different, but hearts and hands together.
Walking into the future, not sure where it is going to take us.
Some day we'll be old, and we'll look back at all the times.
Hopefully, all for the good, but always trying to make the best.
We'll walk off into that sunset sometimes with tears, but always with joy.
