So nice to see neighbors from the surrounding communities just getting together to play music and sing along.
It's amazing to me the good that people can accomplish when they come together like this.
This is hopeful and happy.

Celebrating Chanukah At Ulpan
It was so nice tonight at Ulpan.
Morah Degani had a special night planned for us tonight to celebrate Chanukah.
She called me up to light the candles for the 3rd night and recite the blessing.
Then she played Chanukah songs and we sang along to the Hebrew words on the screen.
We later read and talked about the story of Chanukah and all the meaning and significance of it for having freedom of religion/worship and to maintain our religion and not assimilate.
It was a beautiful way to learn and practice our Hebrew.
Happy 3rd night of Chanukah! ;-)

Awesome "Am Echad" by Ari Goldwag
And you are not with me
What am I when I am separate?
For I am a Jew
I do not go alone
Just with you, my friend, hand in hand
One nation, one song
Come my brother and give me your hand
And we will rejoice and dance together
As one person, with one heart
I don't want want to be alone,
Just forever brothers sitting together
To be a family
Is the secret of joy
For everything is better together
And we sing
All Israel are friends
We won't give up on anyone
If we can successfully love
And sing 'how pleasant..'
The Moshiach will come soon

Every Time I Go Mexico
First, we went for a nice kayak boat ride around the lake.
Then I couldn't help stopping and listening to this relaxing and peaceful music.
These guys were great--I'd pay to listen to them.
Just a bunch of friends getting together to play beautiful music.
This is life as it should be. ;-)

Praise be our G-d, the Master of the Universe.
May he bless us with an abundance of good for the New Year after the Passover commemoration of our exodus from slavery to His redemption and the Holy Land of Israel.
Blessings, Peace, Health, Prosperity, and Joy!
What a lovely event with the community of Magen David Synagogue in Maryland.
My heart is uplifted by the song, dance, friendship, and faith in the Almighty. ;-)

Together 4Ever
In elementary school, the children sing about love and romance.
When 2 people are together, it's as if the angels in heaven themselves are dancing and singing.
Love seems to make everything in the world right again.
Recently, an old person from my building lost his wife of over 60 years!
I see him around and while he continues to go about doing his everyday things, I can see that he misses his wife so much.
He is broken, and his strength is gone.
I remember my grandfather and father the same way when they lost my grandmother and mother, respectively.
Completely devastating to them--their wives were their lives and what made them complete-- afterward, they were never really the same.
Our companions are truly our other halves.
When someone asked the old man from my building how he was doing late last week, he simply responded:
He said it was such sadness and loneliness for his wife who passed that his words literally cut right through me.
People need each other--no one is an island--and especially loving couples who have been together for decades and decades--they are for each other and with each other, even if "together forever" is just a song that children sing...it is what we all ultimately wish for. ;-)

Two lips together.
Twilight forever.
Bring back my love to me."

Happiness Is Serving G-d
Times may be tough.
But I have faith in G-d.
I turn to Him in whatever challenge or enemy arises.
My heart is singing to Him.
Hashem Melech.
Hashem Malach.
Hashem Yimloch L'Olam VaEd
In English:
G-d is king.
G-d was king.
G-d will be king forever.
What other reassurance in life could we ever want or need.
My heart is singing.
Hashem is G-d.
Hashem is One.
Yes, it is singing.
I have faith that all will be well.
- Peace, Health, Happiness, Prosperity.
Because it is G-d who rules now and forever and ever! ;-)

Birthday of Trees
That is the Birthday for (fruit) Trees!
It's when Jewish people celebrate and plant trees around the world and especially in the Holy Land.
Last night, we celebrated with Chabad Israeli Center of Rockville where they had not only of the "7 Fruits" of Israel (wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates), but they also had some very nice wine and cheese, delicious bourekas, and pastries.
We learned about the biblical meaning of the "7 Species of Fruits" and the flourishing of the land of Israel, celebrated with music and song, and played a trivia game with our smartphones using a cool new gaming and learning application, called Kahoot.
A special thank you to Chabad Rabbi Shlomo Beitsh and to Samy Ymar for sponsoring the event.
Overall, a beautiful evening to meet new people and celebrate a very happy birthday to the beautiful trees and mother nature that G-d has so benevolently bestowed on us. ;-)

The Most Precious and Beautiful Song
Sing the most precious and beautiful song to the King of Kings.

Sing the most precious and beautiful song to the King of Kings.
Sing from your successes.
Sing throughout all your failures.
Sing during your tryings, your learnings, and your growing.
Sing with all your heart and soul to the Almighty G-d.
(Note 1: Incredibly, this is my first song and it came to me early on the Shabbat where we read the portion of the Torah when G-d miraculously led the Israelites through the split sea and they sang the "Shirah" (song) of thanksgiving to G-d for saving and redeeming them from slavery to freedom, and I didn't even know it was this Shabbat!)
(Note 2: I would love if someone can put this to music and make this into an amazing song to G-d.)

The Traveling Chassidim
We went to Havdalah with the Traveling Chassidim at Aish HaTorah in Rockville.
It was so wonderful and spiritually uplifting.
At around mark 11:00, I get to wear the shtreimel hat and I get to drop the shtreimel hat (that was funny)!
These Chassidim from Monsey and Brooklyn were so wonderful.
They leave their communities and homes to come out for Shabbat to other Jewish communities around the country and do beautiful outreach.
So giving, loving, and caring with their whole families.
The music, song, and joy they bring are beyond words.
The Traveling Chassidim are wonderful and they make a terrific Havdalah at the end of the Shabbat. ;-)

A Time For Everything
Being in Israel this week has reawakened the essence of my Jewish soul.
Today, we took a long Shabbat walk--winding through the beautiful and ancient streets to reach the beach of Tel Aviv.
It was awesome seeing and hearing Hebrew everywhere--just like in the Bible/Torah.
The street names of famous people and things like Menachem Begin, Shaul HaMelech, Weizman, Ben Yehuda, Shalom Aleichem, Bar Kokhva, Ha-Nevi'im, Yona HaNavi--it all had so much historical and identifying meaning as a proud Jew and Levite servant of the L-rd.
Already, when I awoke this morning--my brain was reciting and my voice signing from Ecclesiastes 3: "There is a time for everything."
And I don't know why, but I was humming it and mouthing over an over again:
"A time to love.
A time to hate.
A time for war (shuttering).
A time for peace (extended and deep longing)."
I pray to you my G-d to protect, guide, and show us--your faithful servants--the way ahead.
In my head, I understand that we do not choose the situations and challenges we face, but that they, in a very strong sense, choose us.
And we must rise to each and every occasion, even as our soul longs for a true and lasting peace.
May G-d grant us to utterly confuse, scatter, torment, and defeat our enemies.
And may we merit a time when we will fully achieve and forever experience and dwell in love and peace, Amen. ;-)

Not 4 Valentines Day
Valentines Day is the holiday of love.
And this photo is not the message you want to see or expect today--of all days!
Anyway, they were selling this sleep mask at the mall.
One one side, it says "Ready"--yeah, a little forward, but problem welcome by most partners.
On the other side, it reads, "Not 2Nite"--gasps and disappointment for sure.
What type of Valentines Day are you going to have?
Love is in the air, enjoy!

Wonderful Thank You
This is one of the most beautiful thank you songs that I have ever heard.
This was played for a departing leader with beautiful photos of all the good and caring work that they did over many years.
The passion, commitment, and tenacity were evident through out, and even though I hadn't known this person for long, it brought tears to my ears.
What certain people can accomplish with their lives--helping others, making a better world.
What we can accomplish through kindness, caring, selflessness, generosity, and tenderness.
It's the definition of inspirational--that we can live a life where the "thank you" is really and totally besides the whole point.
Live life and live it well! ;-)
