Ergonomics Ah!

So today I went for an ergonomic training and assessment.

Never did this before.

It was pretty awesome.

The person had 4 degrees in ergonomics and really seemed to know what they were talking about.

They got me set up in a special ergonomic chair with a footrest, bio-design mouse, and task lighting.

I tell you that I never sat so straight, perfectly contoured, and completely comfortable.

They almost had to pry my butt out of that chair after I test drove it for over an hour in training.

OMG, there is a difference.

Don't need carpal tunnel.

Don't need sciatica.

Don't need neck, shoulder, and back pain.

I even learned that the standing desks can be BAD for you--they put undue stress on your musculature and may actually result in a notable DECREASE in concentration and productivity.

Anyway, from the stupid chairs that I've seen most people have--and the lousy posture they sit with--I'd recommend seeing the ergonomist. ;-)

We Watch The Years Go By

On a lighter note today, I took this photo of a couple watching their kids playing soccer.

They are sitting in Dick's chairs.

His (blue) and hers (pink).

Very cute!

The new generation grows up and supplants their elders--who still may feel "young at heart!"

As I get older, it definitely seems like time goes faster (and faster).

It isn't that some days aren't long, but that overall the less time we have as we get into the latter portions of our life, the quicker it all seems to be passing.

So much so that it all becomes like one big dream (it should never be a nightmare, G-d forbid).

If only we could rewind and redo the portions of our lives where we made mistakes, hurt others or ourselves, or could have just done better.

I'm not sitting in those chairs yet, but when I do, I hope it is with pleasure of heart, mind, and soul--with G-d's mercy. ;-)

How Men And Women Sit

This was funny-sad on the train in Washington, D.C.

This couple--a man and women--are sitting together.

The man (on the right) is completely sprawling out.

The women (on the left) is squishing almost off the seat.

So what is it with men--a testosterone, macho thing--exerting sexuality, power, and dominance--or it is just carelessness and callousness in how to treat women?

For women--is it reticence and modesty or are they accepting being mistreated or even abused?

People's weight aside, it seems that men and women should each be given their own and equal space on the Metro or otherwise in life.

This presumed gender power struggle is not a good thing--love should be equal in feeling, giving, and in time, and space. ;-)

Sit-Stand Computer Desk 1-2-3

This adjustable computer desk stand from Veridesk for sitting and standing is awesome.

Someone got this in the office, and it is the talk of the town.

It comes as one piece, no assembly required and you just place it under your computer--simple, easy!

Just push the handles on either side and the desk height adjusts variably up or down.

I found it on Amazon for just $325-$400 depending on the size and whether you have a double monitor.

My colleague at work said just try it and you will feel so good--this seems like a good healthy deal. ;-)
