A ‘Riblicious’ Meal at Izzy’s

Please see my new Restaurant Review in The Times of Israel called "A 'Riblicious' Meal at Izzy's."
Izzy’s Brooklyn Smokehouse Kosher BBQ now has a location in Miami, Florida. My wife, Dossy, loves ribs, so she “made sure” that we got to try this restaurant while on vacation here in Florida. Of course, she ordered her favorite BBQ Back Ribs as their menu says: “finished over our woodshow grill and covered in our BBQ sauce.”
We ordered the ribs for my wife and she was in seventh heaven just waiting for them to come. There was no bread or appetizer put on the table and when the ribs came they were just that, ribs covered in thick brown BBQ sauce with a sprinkling of pickles and purple cabbage on the side and a cup of ketchup. There was no doubt that this meal was all about the ribs and that virtually nothing else mattered. Looking at my wife’s happy face, I can almost forgive them for the various service snafus.

Messed Up By Norton Clean

So I got this message on my computer that it's time to run Norton Clean.

Oy, what a mistake.

This tool is not ready for prime time.

It's supposed to optimize memory and clean up duplicate and residual files.

But in my experience, it swept up more good files than junk files.

And I ended up having to pull my files back from the trash and manually restore them to their file structure.

What a pain in the you know what!

Artificial intelligence--not way the I see this utility/tool.

If you don't pay attention, you can lose a lot of important information.

Yes, it gives you a chance to review the files, but then what do you really need this cleaning tool to begin with.

Maybe you have a different experience, I can only speak for myself.

But a little human intelligence goes a long way to sift through the wheat from the chaff--that's what your files really need anyway. ;-)

Overqualified And Underwhelming

Ok, so this sign is sarcastic for the question I received the other day.

A colleague, who is a supervisor, asked me :

"How do you take a group that doesn't know how to do the work (literally does not know how) and get them going, then teach them to do it on their own instead of doing nothing, waiting, blaming?"

My response was:

You can't do everyone's job for them...you will fail that way (and they will fail that way).

You have to learn to work effectively with others...you have to delegate and let them do their jobs.

As a manager, you should review, edit, comment, question, suggest, recommend, and quality assure (not micromanage).

Send staff to training, mentor, and guide them, but don't do the job for them.

What do you think?
