That's Precious

Huge royal blue sapphire and lots and lots of diamonds.

This thing just reeks of wealth and extravagance.

"Simply gorgeous darling!" ;-)

Eye Earrings

Like these big blue eyes in the heart-shaped earrings.

The eyes even have these cool eyelashes!

We got the eyes (I's) and the heart (love)—where's the you?

Maybe we give the earrings to "you" and then it's I love you!  ;-)

Giraffe Lady

This lady is just closing her eyes and taking it easy.

She's got the makeup, nice hat and jewelry and is relaxing with her back to the mirror.

Life is good!

On second thought, why the heck is a neck as long as a giraffe?

What is this another version of Pinocchio or something!

Wake up lady, you've got problems to deal with here. ;-)

WTF Is It?

Art but what the heck:

Do these thingamajigs represent people standing tall and with arms raised high?

Are you supposed to hang things off of it like jewelry?

Can you place on it reminder notes or small pictures using push pins?

Then again maybe it's a toy for a child or even a pet?

In the end, all I can say is WFT is it?

Perhaps that's what the meaning of art is!  ;-)

Mr. Golden Sun

There's nothing like the hot sun.

Too bright to look at it.

It enlightens our whole world.

The warm glowing sun is life.

Cold empty darkness is death.

Light drives out the dark.

We need more light in this world. ;-)

Magical Blue Pendant

Thought this blue pendant was just magical!

Beautiful blue color and love the inlaid design over it.

Middle eastern style and it's a standout!

There is mystery, eloquence, and even some unapologetic sexiness to it.  ;-)

Romance Watch

What an awesome watch from Van Clef & Arpels.

Couple meet on a bridge in Paris.

Lady with umbrella on the left tells the hour.

Man on the right tells the minute.

They move together towards a kiss.

Very romantic!

Beautifully done with fairytale theme.

This Pont Des Amoureux Jour watch in rose gold and diamonds is only $122,000 (excluding sales tax).

What a bargain!  ;-)

'Uncut Gems' Cuts Deep

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called, "Uncut Gems Cuts Deep."
Yesterday, we went to see the new Adam Sandler movie, Uncut Gems....Ratner's life is full of shlemazel of his own making. While he has a good wife, kids, and extended family (maybe with the exception of his loan shark uncle), a fancy-schmancy home in the suburbs with a newly renovated pool, his own jewelry business that even caters to some big-league sports players, and a shiksa girlfriend on the side (who seems to love him), Ratner is never satisfied or happy and is always pushing for more!

In the movie, Howard Ratner was driven by greed and made bad life choices, and to me, it was a shame that the he was portrayed as a Jew, which can feed the vicious cycle of discrimination and hatred that has often been anchored around money. With the vicious machete attack on Chanukah at a Rabbi's house in Monsey this week (after a slew of other anti-Semitic incidents, including an attack on a student for wearing a yalmulke on the NYC Subway to beatings and tire slashings of Jews in Brooklyn), we are reminded that there is once again a resurgence of prejudice and hate against Jews, but also that it's the light of Chanukah that "drives out the darkness," and that money and materialism are a mere shabby substitute to finding true security and success whether you work in the dense NYC Diamond District or live in the sprawling suburbs of America.

Holiday Earrings With Pizazz

These holiday earrings have loads of pizazz.

Watch them flash red from ear to ear!

The funny thing is no one else even notices.

What an awesome holiday fashion statement from The Nation's Capital. ;-)

Searching For Gold

This guy had some getup on in Fort Lauderdale on the toasty beach.

He's in the ocean dressed in a full wetsuit with a mask over his face, a hat on his head, and the headphones over his ears.

He had a metal detector and wand looking for lost gold in the water right off the beach.

But didn't see him find a dime the whole time we were there.

I can't believe these guys can actually find enough jewelry on the beach to make this worth while.

Back and forth with the wand...searching, searching.  ;-)

Retro Cool Digital Watch

Wow, I love this retro digital Computron watch from Bulova.

I remember when the first digital LED watches with the red numbers like this first came out in the 1970s.

They were quite expensive then!

Part of the computer revolution. LOL

I remember my uncle had something like this and I thought how cool it was--no moving hands to read.

Also, has a little of that sci-fi Battlestar Galactica red (moving) light effect from the cybernetic enemy, Cylon visors.

What's old is what's new.  ;-)

Really Highest Quality

Just thought this was a funny, educational photo.

Vendor is selling jewelry on the corner (outside the Metro).

They're advertising:

Products Of The Highest Quality

But would you even expect to get the highest quality jewelry off the street.

As nice as these products may be (and he may be), I don't think anyone would really believe this.

So while the ad grabs your attention and makes you look, it doesn't make you believe.

Advertising and branding has to be credible to reach their intended audience or else it'll just come off as fool's gold. ;-)

Taking Pride In Your Work

I thought this was a nice necklace.

The lady in the hair salon had a necklace in the shape of a scissors.

I asked her about it because it seemed sort of unusual and neat.

She said, "It's a scissors!"

And then she proceeded to squeeze the miniature two handles, and said, "You see, it actually opens and closes too!"

I could see and hear how proud she was of what she does for a living.

Yes, maybe it doesn't earn as much as some other professions, but it was her job and she loved it.

I think we should all try to take such pride in our work and in doing a great job!

Everyone has something important to contribute and every contribution truly counts. ;-)

Valentine's Day Fashion Wow!

Now, how perfect is this guy's suit?

I can't imagine who would make such a thing, but WOW!

This guy is a walking Mr. Charming.

Forget the sales job in the jewelry store, I would put him right on the "The Bachelor" season whatever.

Who isn't going to fall in love with this guy?
"Matchmaker matchmaker make me a match.
Find me a find.
Catch me a catch."
Love wins over hate...

Happy Valentine's Day!  ;-)

Hamsa Most Gorgeous

The Hamsa is a Middle Eastern symbol for thousands of years representing the hand of G-d.

Chamsa in Arabic or Hamesh in Hebrew is actually five (or 5 fingers as in a hand).

The Hamsa serves as an amulet to nullify the evil eye (Ayin Harah).

A Hamsa is frequently decorated with an eye, ornate etchings, beads, and gems.

This Hamsa that I found in New Jersey by an Israeli artist is actually one of the largest (almost 2 feet) and one of the most beautiful.

It is made of lacquer over oil paint on wood, and I think weighs about 5-6 pounds.

Each finger is a different and vibrant color, and it has poetry about the hand in life you are dealt and handling life the best you can.

It has a big happy and peaceful face with rosy cheeks and a heart on its forehead.

It is such a magnificent piece that I actually saw it in the window of a fine art store while almost driving by it in a car.

Awesome, beautiful, and G-d should bestow it with the powerful energy to help protect us from all evil and illness, defend us from any bad judgements and dangers, and shower us with his infinite mercy and blessings all the days of our lives. ;-)

Apple Watch M~A~N~I~A

The Apple (Smart) Watch doesn't go on sale for another 2 weeks...

But the Apple stores are streaming with excited customers already.

There are displays lined with the watches from the sports model to the stainless steel and even the 24-karat gold ones.

Ask the Apple salesperson and they'll set you up at the next table for an associate to help you try on the watches including the 38 cm and 42 cm displays and various fashionable bands.

They have this cute little rag to shine up the watch displays before you try them on over these black mats, just as if you are in a fancy jewelry store sampling diamond rings or something.

I'll tell you, while there is plenty of well-founded skepticism about these ranging from their not being a killer app to their inherent obsolescence (the battery is like 6 quarters thick on this version), and the watches are NOT intuitive to use, people are STILL going to buy these just to be stay current with the changing technology.

Right now, I'm pressing down on the display (in my mind) and sending my heart beats to Apple for another transformative technology move.

One of my favorites on this watch is using the voice control to send text messages...Dick Tracy eat your heart out. ;-)
