Israel at 78: The Future It Must Build

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Israel at 78: The Future It Must Build."

Israel’s 78th Independence Day serves as a powerful reminder that Jewish sovereignty is a lived reality, balancing the unrestrained joy of the next generation with the steady resolve of those who defend it. This restoration of dignity and agency defies centuries of displacement, asserting a permanent right to self-determination that persists despite modern challenges and critics' double standards. Rooted in the ethic of teshuvah, the nation embraces a culture of self-reflection and responsibility rather than a claim to perfection. As Israel looks toward its 80th year, it remains committed to a future defined by regional cooperation, global innovation through Tikkun Olam, and an unyielding security that protects its moral purpose.

The Hatikva

🇮🇱 The Hatikva for anyone who wants to learn to sing it:

Kol od ba'le'vav p'nima
(As long as in the heart within)

Nefesh Yehudi ho'miyah
(The Jewish soul yearns)

Ulfa'atei mizrach kadima
(And forward, to the ends of the East)

Ayin le’Tziyyon tzofiyah.
(An eye gazes toward Zion)

Od lo avdah tikva'tenu
(Our hope is not yet lost)

Hatikva bat sh'not al'payim
(The hope of a two thousand years)

Lihiyot am chofshi be'artzeinu
(To be a free nation in our land)

Eretz Tziyyon v'Yerushalayim.
(The land of Zion and Jerusalem)

Liberation’s Call: From Venezuela to Iran

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Liberation's Call: From Venezuela to Iran."

The Jewish and Zionist narrative is a foundational saga of liberation, transforming the ancient Exodus into a modern divine mandate to confront tyranny and uphold human dignity. Through the lens of tikkun olam, the recent collapses of the Maduro and Assad regimes are seen as more than geopolitical shifts; they are moral victories that prove principled leadership can dismantle industrialized cruelty. Today, this imperative focuses on Iran, where the regime’s systematic repression and export of terror represent a modern "Pharaoh" that must be countered to protect both regional stability and universal human rights. Ultimately, the Zionist model of reclaiming indigenous sovereignty serves as a global blueprint, asserting that the transition from bondage to self-determination is a sacred birthright for all oppressed peace-loving peoples.

Israel’s Urgent Need to Boost Defense Spending

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Israel's Urgent Need to Boost Defense Spending."

Israel’s survival hinges on its ability to confront existential threats with unrelenting resolve. Already allocating an extraordinary 8.8% of GDP—$46 billion annually—to defense, a 65% surge since the October 7 atrocities, Israel must further escalate investments in its military capabilities. This urgency persists despite ranking 15th globally in defense spending and receiving $3.8 billion in annual US military aid, supplemented by wartime emergency packages. The Jewish state faces an unparalleled convergence of adversaries: Iran’s regime—armed with nuclear ambitions, ICBMs, and drone swarms—orchestrates proxy wars through Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, while the United Nations and global anti-Zionist movements wage diplomatic and ideological warfare.

Kahane Was Right About at Least One Thing

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Kahane Was Right About at Least One Thing."

Of course, given the political and humane realities, Israel has always sought coexistence and peace. Israel has repeatedly pursued a two-state solution, from the 1947 UN Partition Plan to the 1967 Green Line and the Oslo and Camp David Peace Accords. Each attempt at peaceful coexistence has ultimately collapsed into further violence. In short, then we must consider that:

If Arabs can live peacefully within Israel, that is to be welcomed. But if they remain committed to Israel’s destruction, then those who refuse compromise must seek another home.

While the pursuit of peace must never cease, a pragmatic mindset considers all logical approaches. This should include the concept of a distinctly Jewish state, which cannot be democratically ruled out of existence.

More Than "Just" a Magen David

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "More Than 'Just' a Magen David."

Our response to antiSemitism and hate should be to embrace our Jewish identity all the more. In the words of the singer Benny Friedman:
I'm a Jew and I'm proud
And I'll sing it out loud
'Cuz forever
And ever
That's what I'll be
I'm a Jew and I'm proud
And without a doubt
Hashem is always watching over me
We are truly in the middle of a global attack on the Jewish people, and we cannot give up even one centimeter in our quest for freedom, peace, and security.

My Vote of Confidence in Bibi

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "My Vote of Confidence in Bibi."

Prime Minister Netanyahu stands out not only for having been the longest serving Prime Minister of Israel (winning six times) and leading for over fifteen years, but for his undying vision and execution of peace through strength. Certainly, I could write of his heroism as an Israeli commando (and that of his dear older brother Yoni, who tragically perished in the Rescue at Entebbe), his miraculous rescue of Israel's finances and remake of the country into a genuine economic success story, and his unflinching determination to prevent a Palestinian terror state next to Israel and to thwart the existential Iranian nuclear threat.

However, I think there is no better expression of Bibi's core love for his people and Israel than that of his own words in his countless genius arguments and eloquent speeches at the United Nations, Congress, and with world leaders in defense of Israel's legitimacy and right to exist and defend itself.

Stopping China's Spy Balloon

Please see my new article in The Times of Israel called "Stopping China's Spy Balloon."

Unfortunately, the longer we gazed up at the sky, procrastinated, and let this Chinese surveillance craft collect and send important information to China, the worse it was for our global reputation, vital national security, deterrence for future military engagement, and priceless sovereignty and freedom. That balloon should have been found, shot down, and caught in real time off the Alaskan coast, not days later after traversing our country and so near our capital. This has been a national embarrassment and has presumably damaged vital global security interests.

Announcing my Second Book: For the Love of Israel

With gratitude to Hashem, I am announcing my second published book, For the Love of Israel.

It is available on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and hardcopy

Book description:

This book is about the incredible Jewish homeland of Israel. As the prophet Isaiah states (11:12), "He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth." This work is a reflection of my deep love and yearning for our Promised Land. This book is anchored in G-d's Biblical promise to the Jewish people for this amazing land, the decades of persecution culminating in the Holocaust that the Jews have endured, our miraculous national resurrection and return, the blossoming of the deserts and metamorphosis into a scientific, technological and military world power, and the hope and prayer for all us to be able to make Aliyah and for the completion of the Redemption and the coming of the Mashiach.

I hope you enjoy!

Andy
