Gucci Sneakers

Wow, these Gucci sneakers were over the top!

Thick, thick soles and built up sides.

A strap adorning the sneaker with colored-stones (faux gems).

Very heavy with a durable kick-a*s feel.

All for $1,590 at Bloomingdale's.

As we joke as kids with a eastern European "old country" droll, "It's a bargain!" ;-)

A Mosquito Into A Mule

So you know the old saying about:
Making a mountain out of a molehill

That's when you make a big deal out of nothing.

So yesterday, I heard the European version of this as:
Making a mosquito into a mule

Honestly, I like that version a lot better.

A mosquito bites and is annoying.

But a mule resists and is a very stubborn animal that can drive you crazy.

You definitely don't want to make a mosquito into a mule! ;-)

Theater And A Bagel

We stopped in at the Flying V Awesome-A-Thon yesterday.

How can anything "awesome" not be good?

Flying V mixes it up with the arts and culture.

They combine theater with wrestling!

Essentially, this group tries to add adventure and combat to the more staid dramatic performances.

Anything that brings theater more alive is definitely a good thing.

We got to sit in on the event organizers doing a live podcast and could definitely see their enthusiasm for "Shakespeare and training" and becoming a success story.

Anyway, they did have some snacks at the event, and this colorful bagel was definitely the standout. ;-)

This Is The IT Help Desk

This was a funny true story that happened recently.

Someone found a roach walking around their desk in the office.

Not knowing who to call...they call the (IT) Help Desk.

Hello. What is the asset number on the device you are calling about?

Asset Number! You don't need my asset number.

Well, what is the nature of your problem?

I'll tell you what my problem is. The problem is that I have a cockroach walking around on my desk!"

Ah, do you know that you are calling the IT!!! Help Desk?

Ah, yes I do. Can you give me the number for who to call about this roach?

Ah, you are calling the wrong number. Why don't you try finding out who your facilities person is?

Facilities person! But you guys are the Help Desk! Can't you tell me how to get help to get rid of this roach? And by the way--where there is one, there are definitely more.

Ah, We don't typically handle roach problems, but thank you for calling the Help Desk. {{click}}

I know many organizations are moving to Enterprise Service Desks where you can call and get help for all sorts of issues at work.

Even then, I wonder if the employees answering the line will be trained in who to call to get a Roach Motel or some Raid.

Perhaps this is the next evolution of support.  ;-)

Three Ladies

Just a beautiful artist plate that I picked up in Israel.

Loved the colors and simplicity of this.

I got a "aged brass" (gold) plate stand for this.

Enjoy looking at this now in our living room and also remembering our wonderful trip, thank G-d.

Also, I wonder if I know these three ladies from somewhere.  ;-)

Monday Signs

Starting a new week...

Pick a sign for your desk:

- Good morning let the stress begin

- Step away from my desk and no one gets hurt

- I found your nose, it was in my business

- I'm pretty sure I have no idea

Which one would you pick?

Tag Lines Deliver

Ouch!  How is that for a tag line?
Unlike Your Boyfriend, We Deliver.

That certainly has a sharp bite to it, but you know what?  It works.

Witty, funny, and maybe even true.

It's the old adage that "sex sells."

That's a delivery service that I'm sure many would nod their heads to. ;-)

The Photo Every Man Fears

This was quite an interesting picture to put in the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

That is one mighty large scissors that lady is holding.

Uh, she looks a little commando-ish with the jump suit, cap, and sunglasses.

Is she ready for war or for punishing some bad men?

I don't believe there is a man out there that isn't spooked by this lady.

My *** hurts just looking at this. ;-)

How Some People Cope With Stress

Thought this was incredible.

Someone opened up a "Rage Room" in Maryland.

I know the atmosphere in D.C. is polarized and sort of toxic lately, and there is lot's of identity politics, obstruction, and even people hating on each other, but this really shows how things have degenerated.

And let's face it, it's not just the politics that people are stressed out about--how about stress from family, work, and bills.  We're on 24/7 these days and a lot of stress can build up in people that way.

But now, people can actually pay money to go to into a room, wrap themselves in safety clothing, and spend their time smashing things.

Almost like when they put crazy people in a padded room in a straight jacket and let them hit their heads against the wall for a while.

In the Rage Room:

You can break 10 glass items for just $25!

Or throw in a medium printer in the starter pack and it's $35.

You can even BYOB (Bring Your Own Breakables) and have at it for $15.

Group packages and even gift cards are available.

Fun maybe, a little crazy for sure. ;-)

@Sandy Spring Museum Music Jam

So nice to see neighbors from the surrounding communities just getting together to play music and sing along.

It's amazing to me the good that people can accomplish when they come together like this.

This is hopeful and happy.

My Fun Socks

Just wanted to share some of my new fun socks.

You don't always have to take yourself so serious.

It's okay to let go and just be you.

From Dragon Ball Z to Super Mario, I feel so empowered!

Hope you do too.  ;-)

Nice Coat!

Just wanted to share this awesome coat by Paris designer, Yves Saint Laurent.

The colors are so standout, and the plushness is amazing from head to toe...beautiful.

The label is a little fuzzy, but I think the original price on this was over $30,000!

And even at deep discount it's close to 10 grand!

I wonder if it's real fur?  ;-)

Shabbat Shalom!

Anyone Have A Question About This Car?

Yeah, all I can say...
Anyone have a question about this car?

I am pretty sure this car is owned by Matthew Lesko, "The Question Mark Guy."

Lesko was in a number of commercials and infomercials about asking him how to get free information and grant money from the government.

He dresses and drives in question marks, and I've seen him a number of times around town. Frankly, it's sort of hard to miss this guy!

His self promotion sort of makes you wonder, if you had to choose just one symbol to wear everywhere to represent you to the world--it could be a punctuation mark or anything else--what would that look like?  ;-)

Impact of Hyperwork on Family

I am seeing this all the time now...

Parents of little children, or even older children, who are too busy working to pay much, if any, attention to their families.

Call it a disease of the industrial revolution + information technology.

Whether people worked on the assembly line making widgets or nowadays on the computer and smartphone answering their bosses and colleagues compulsively--it's become a global obsession.

On one hand, with the impending robot and AI revolution taking over jobs, people need to be grateful to even have a job to earn a living for the families.

On the other hand, with the connections to each other and our work 24/7, the depression-era saying of:
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Has morphed into:
Brother, can you spare some time?

Yes, we all need to be responsible adults, earn a decent living and pay our bills.

But in the end, it's not money or things that we give to our families that is the most important.

I would argue money and things are the least important, and what is truly most precious is the love, time, and attention you give to yours.

As the old saying goes:
Money can't buy love.

But time and attention given to your loved ones can build meaningful relationships that last a lifetime and beyond.

Yes, of course, people need to work to earn a living and productively contribute something to society, but it is also true that work is used as an excuse to run away from parental and familial responsibilities.

It's easier to give an Amazon gift certificate or a Gameboy then to actually spend the afternoon with the kids.

These days, people say ridiculous things like:
I love going into the office to get away from home.

But you can't run away from your problems at home--you need to work on them and solve them.

The diabolical murderous Nazis used work as a tool to enslave, torture, and exterminate their victims as the sign over the gate of the Auschwitz (and many other) concentration camps read:
Arbeit Macht Frei  (or Work Sets You Free)

But as we all know inside, true freedom is being able to give generously from your time and effort to your loved ones, and slavery is not being able to let go of your work.

What's The Big Fascination?

From Victoria's Secret to colorful art renditions, medieval metal, and cross-dressing on the neighborhood corner...

This does not seem to be about being angels, unchaste, or even "sexy-wexy "(as I think my mother-in-law calls it).

So I really have to ask what is all the fascination about here?

Culturally, we seem to be a little OCD.

If Martians visited us, I don't think they would understand us at all.

Frankly, I'm not sure that I do either!  ;-)

Does Color Make The Man?

Thought these were some mighty bold and colorful Men's shoes.

I personally like color and making a little bit of a a statement.

In a sense, color makes the man happy, exciting, alive, and uplifting.

With these shoes, I suppose if your going dancing or a splendid night out on the town these may work.

So there is a time and place for everything.

Day-to-day, these shoes are a little out there, and more than a little scary, and too much for my sense of tasteful design.  ;-)
