I'm Sure You Did

So I thought this was pretty funny at the pool this week.

I am about to get into the swimming pool.

A water aerobics class is letting out and a bunch of older ladies are on the way out of the water.

One of them stops, give me a big smirk, and says:

"Don't worry we warmed it up for you!"

I thought for quick second, and said with a completely straight face:

"I'm sure you did!"

The joys of swimming life.  ;-)

Have You Been?

Why is Hawaii one of those places where people always go:

Have you been?

They don't even say the words "to Hawaii".

Like Hawaii is just one of those places where you're supposed to read people's minds.

Have you been?

Umm, let me think a moment.

And before you even get a chance to respond further, the other person goes:

Oh, well let me tell you about the time we were in Hawaii and...

Of course, nothing much ever really seems to come after that except something about the wonderful beaches!

Like there aren't nice, exotic beaches anywhere else.

Frankly, it's a little remote anyway, no?

The other thing about Hawaii, of course, is if one of the volcanos starts smoking its angry stack!

Better start playing that little guitar Hula dancer! ;-)

Garden of 5 Senses

Garden of Five Senses in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

I hear it and I see it, but I can barely believe it.

I can touch it, and I can even taste it, but that's going too far.

I can smell it, but in a good way.  ;-)

My Blue Thumb

Oops! I goofed watering the plants this week.

I got a new spray bottle from Home Depot and I put the Fantastic cleaner it in.

Thinking about the new bottle, I accidentally picked it up to water the plants.

I sprayed the cactus and immediately realized what I had done!

Oh sh*t! I just poisoned my cactus. So quickly, I poured water in to try to dilute it.

I thought to myself how the plant would react and I imagined how a person would react if they drank Fantastic.

Sure enough within a couple of days the cactus was reeling.

But I think a person could probably recover if it wasn't too much, so I'm hoping the cactus will too. ;-)

Missing Florida Vacations

So many months into Covid now, and probably so many more to go unfortunately.

Just missing getting out and down to Florida for a little vacation.

The palm trees.  The sun.  The beach.  A little fun.

This isn't forever, right?

Hopefully, let's pray, Covid will be over and we can live again in freedom and without fear of contagion every moment of every day, day, day.  ;-)

When All The World Is Going Crazy

When all the world is going c-r-a-z-y...

The best thing you can do is stay CALM.

- Calm is where good energy enters and bad doesn't.

- Calm is where rational thinking gets done.

- Calm is where positive action happens.

- Calm is where our inner faith is sustained.

- Calm is where we can inspire and lead ourselves and others to do good.

Calm is where we all yearn to be. ;-)

Merry-Go-Round and Round

Merry-go-round and round.

Bobbing up and down, up and down.

Faster and faster and slower and slower.

Animal figures, colorful props, mirrors that reflect it all up.

Children smiling, children happy, what can be more satisfactory. ;-)

Never Any Rest In Life

First day in 15 weeks! that we went to a real store yesterday.

Dick's Sporting Goods was open, but still not much else.

It was refreshing to look around again.

Nearly all the bicycles were cleaned out with people forced to do their own exercise routines these days.

People walking around mostly like they were on Mars.

Had some restaurants with just their patios open and people are sitting outside in the good weather.

Also, some eateries open for takeout.

Best part is still nature, and all the closures have brought us back to it.

This turtle was tanning in the warm sun on the rocks and swatting the snake away with its rear foot.

Sort of funny that even a turtle can never get any rest in life. ;-)

Holding Back The Tide

These rocks are holding their own against the tide.

They are also standing the test of time.

We all need to push back against the tide when wrong is pushing forward.

Whether its corruption or violence.

Be like a rock!

Choose good over evil in every situation.  ;-)

Israel 2020: Day 8

So awesome going to the Bahai Gardens today in Haifa, Israel.

Took the train to Haifa and then a taxi ride up this big hill.

Got out at the top and not sure what to expect.

We go through security...

And then we see this completely BREATHTAKING view of the Bahai Gardens along with an amazing view of Haifa, the port, and up and down the Mediterranean Sea.

The view Extended all the way up to the Crusader Castle in Akko.

The terraced Bahai Gardens were spectacular.

I've never seen anything like this.

We walked down the terraces some 700 stairs.

And along the way were fountains, gardens, and more beautiful landscapes and views.

This is definitely something to see (thank you Hashem for this opportunity). ;-)

Israel 2020: Day 6

Did a nice beach walk from Tel Aviv to Jaffa.

It was sunny and warm out.

Lots of people exercising, running, and enjoying the outdoors.

The blue Mediterranean Sea, the white sand, and breeze in the air was lovely.

Even a funny statue of former Prime Minister Ben-Gurion doing a headstand as he used to do in his fitness routine.

Shabbat is a good time to stop and take that much needed walk on the beach. ;-)

How Fish Come Up To Breathe

This was one of the most interesting facts that I learned recently.

Dolphins needs to come up to the surface to get air to breathe.

But how do they do this when they sleep?

The answer is that only part of their brain sleeps at a time, so that they can continue to rise to the surface for air 24/7.

Part of their brain sleeps while the other part stays awake.

I think that this truly happens with people too.

If you have ever been overtired, your brain still needs to sleep.

At some point, you can literally feel part of your brain go to sleep even as the rest is awake to do what it needs to do (even at suboptimal functioning).

This is beyond fascinating how G-d created us to adapt and survive. ;-)

Nature Boy

When I was a kid and I went to the supermarket with my mom, I remember always seeing the "Andy Boy Broccoli" in the produce aisle.

Of course, I was always curious why Broccoli was called Andy Boy--what boy or any kid for that matter likes to eat broccoli???

And like most things in life, there really wasn't a good answer except that this company, "Andy Boy" grows and distributes it.

Anyway, I was always a nature boy feeling most at home and at peace in the countryside.

I love being in nature, surrounded by G-d's amazing beauty, and at one with the universe and with G-d.

In building all our great cities, buildings, and structures, aside from the crowding, pollution, crime and traffic that we have consequently, we have also lost something elementary to our lives with the absence of real nature.

A park is not a forest.  A pond is not a river.  A plant is a not a lush valley.  A garden is not a farm.  A hill is not a mountain range.  A pet is not a teeming ecosystem of diverse life.

The city is man made and fake, but nature is from G-d and real. ;-)

Eyewash Smiley

Had to take a second look at this eyewash station with the bright yellow caps.

I suppose this is good if you get something in your eye(s) and need to flush it out.

Are the yellow caps supposed to be for keeping the faucets clean and unobstructed.

Whole thing looks a little like a face:  the yellow caps are the eyes, the big center faucet is the nose, and the sink basic the big mouth.

Maybe just my imagination, but I think it's saying "there are too many cooks in this kitchen, get the h*ll out!" :-)

Lifeguard Needs A Lifeguard

So I thought this was a funny story the lifeguard told me.

The guards are required to renew their lifeguard certification every two years.

When I asked if he swims, he said "not regularly" and then when I asked if he exercises, he said half-jokingly: "I sleep, eat, and drink!"

But then he told me about the lifeguard exam and a couple of people who should've never been taking the test.

One lady gets waist deep into the pool, and the proctor tells the lady to swim to the other side of the pool and back. Instead of swimming, she starts crying hysterically that she doesn't know how to swim!

Another guy was swimming funny with his arms flailing and his butt out of the water. When the proctor asked him what was up with that and to show him what was hiding under his trunks, the guy showed him that he was wearing an inflatable plastic band under his pants.

Fail, fail, fail--these are life endangering guards, NOT "lifeguards!"  ;-)

Searching For Gold

This guy had some getup on in Fort Lauderdale on the toasty beach.

He's in the ocean dressed in a full wetsuit with a mask over his face, a hat on his head, and the headphones over his ears.

He had a metal detector and wand looking for lost gold in the water right off the beach.

But didn't see him find a dime the whole time we were there.

I can't believe these guys can actually find enough jewelry on the beach to make this worth while.

Back and forth with the wand...searching, searching.  ;-)
