The Mother of all Cactus Needles

Wow, those are some humongous sharp needles on this cactus!

When I checked out from the store with this deadly plant, the cashier oulls the cactus from the shopping cart and gets one of the pins stuck right in her finger.

It was just sort of caught there with the other end hanging out a couple of inches from her finger.

A little shocked and not sure what to say, I just sort of stumbled "Oh, Are you okay? I so sorry!"

She said she was and reached over and plucked the needle out holding her hand limply in the other.

On the way home then, this guy says to me, "you better not sit on that thing."

Ah yeah, you're not kidding!  ;-)

3 Months of Social Distancing

Here is a link to the modeling for Covid-19:
https://covidactnow.org/

You can click any state to see the impact of 3 months of social distancing or 3-months of Shelter in Place.

Basically, it looks like this first round of coronavirus will last until around the beginning of June.

The hope is that we can keep the hospitals and medical system from being overwhelmed while we try to come up and test an effective vaccine.

Of course, vaccines are helpful, but look how many still get the flu every year because viruses mutate and the vaccine misses the mark.

Also, there is a risk that the virus comes back even more virulent again, so we all need to continue to pray! ;-)

(Thank you to my sister for sharing this with me.)

Calories Extreme!

Someone mentioned that they went to the Cheesecake Factory the other day.

They said they bought a slice of cheesecake.

I asked: "Was it the Oreo Cheesecake?"

They said, "yeah!"

But they went on, "It was too much for one person to eat."

Uh, you think?

Check out how many calories are in one piece of this "Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake" -->>1,630!

Yes, that's one slice, not the whole cake!!!

And over 50% is from fat!

Take all this in context:
The calories for an average female and male is just 1,900 and 2,500, respectively, if your moderately active.

So one slice of cheesecake like this Oreo flavor is around 86% or 65% of the total recommended calorie intake for a women or man for the entire day!

What the heck do they put into this cheesecake--butter, cream cheese, sugar by the truckload!

I know it must be good, but does it also have to be this deadly! ;-)
