Cat On A Leash

So I don't know about you,  but I've never seen a cat being taken for a walk on leash before.

Apparently, this is a very special breed of cat called Ragdoll (because they tend to go limp/relax when you pick them up).

Aside from being large, soft and beautiful animals, they are known as "dog-like cats" and actually follow people around like a dog on a leash.

Maybe less like a dog and more like a mini lion in perceived size, this is one incredible cat!  ;-)

Animals Bags

Cute animals bags.

Turtle bag front and center.

Others are elephant, cat, and maybe a panda.

Peaceful and happy.

Yesterday a Dog, Today a Cat!

Shabbat Shalom from Ms. Cat.

It only takes a day to change from a dog to cat.

Downs and ups of life.

Shabbat is the up, thank G-d!  ;-)

Cat Nap

What a great place to take a cat nap!

So many gorgeous cats in Israel.

They don't run away either.

So friendly and happy.

Sort of got a feeling like they were old souls inhabiting these cats.

Old souls are very often wise souls.

Cute and wise cats.

Enjoy!

From My Cats To Yours

Diversity is a very beautiful thing.

Whether you're an orange, red, or green cat.

It doesn't matter--you are a cat!

All cats gotta get along.

Might does not make a right in any catfight.

But brotherhood of cats does us all good.

Does every cat need to stand up for it's daily food?

Sure, but there is more than enough catfood and nip to go around.

I like to be in a great cat sea purring and frolicking all day long.

Live and let live--and love--all cats and dogs and people and others!

And from the great Martin Luther King Jr.
"We must learn to live together as brothers
or
perish together as fools."

Shabbat shalom and happy Labor Day holiday weekend!

That's Lucky

So a retail establishment opened in the area.

They had all these cat symbols hung inside.

I asked the owner what it said, and she told me:
"Lucky Cat"

Why a cat symbolizes luck I don't really know.

But the bigger question is whether there is any such thing as luck in the first place.

We constantly wish people good luck on any and every aspect of their lives: from birth to bar/bat mitzvahs, engagements, weddings, graduations, new jobs, journeys, and basically anything we embark on.

That's what Mazel Tov means--good luck!

But I thought we believe in G-d and not luck?

We strive through prayer, charity, repentance, and all sort of good deeds to try and move the scale of justice in our favor.

With the Jewish high holidays approaching next month--Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur--we do everything to atone for our sins and commit to being better in the future.

We seek G-d's mercy and his blessings.

There is no arbitrary luck or fortune.

Life is what we make out of it.

What about the Massachusetts women who won $758 million in Powerball last week or the person that gets cancer or some other horrible tragedy--did they deserve it?

I suppose it's impossible for us to judge why some people have amazing fortune and others have schlimazel (misfortune).

As it says in Genesis (18:25):
"Shall not the judge of all the Earth do justly?"

Surely, G-d has the bigger picture and the omniscience to know what is good for us and what is not.

How he tests us and tries us and to what ends...that is a matter of faith and conviction--and we believe that it is all ultimately for our best.

The judge of all Earth...please have mercy on us and bestow your blessings on us, your faithful children.

As to the lucky cat--wave us some good vibes--all long as we realize that we all need G-d's grace! ;-)

Cat Knob

So I just love this cat door knob.

Carved in wood and a special tinge of African Egyptian art.

Dark wood cat knob on light wood doors--looks warming and pretty classy.

From the white glue in the background, it looks like it fallen off a few times, perhaps.

But either way so cute--one of these on each on the French Doors.

It's a nice home decor and style--and the big cat eyes are so handsome. ;-)

Cool Cat

So yesterday I was coming home from the fitness center/pool.

I was wearing shorts and pool shoes even though it was only in the 30's-40's temperature out.

This large man with a Texas accent stops me to ask how I can dress like that around Winter time.

And it's particularly funny, because there is another man overhearing this conversation next to us wrapped up in no less than 2 coats/layers.

So I say in a lighthearted way "I guess that I just have warm blood, so the temperature doesn't really bother me."

He says, "Uh, in Florida, when it goes into the 60's, people start shivering and bundling up down there."

I smile, and say "Well maybe we're just different people."

Then he goes, "I like that--I like people that think different! You know why, [and he pauses and repeats again] you know why?"

I look at him sort of eyes wide open at this point waiting to hear his explanation to the build up.

And he says, "Because it means they don't give a sh*t what other people think!"

At that point we both started nodding and laughing.

Maybe you had to be there, but I think you can probably envision this sort of nutty scene.  ;-)
